Each white cedar log is hand
selected for its density, strength, and individual
characteristic bends, twists and burls. The
log is carefully dried for stability then
crafted into place with mortise and tenon
joints. Heavy duty log lag screws are counter
sunk and holes are pre-drilled to stop end
splinting. To channel water out of the bottom
rail joints drainage holes are provided.
To preserve the natural look a special sealer
is offered which penetrates deep into the
wood pores. Like sunscreen it reduces the
harshness of the sun from bleaching out the
wood. Or, if you prefer it to go gray, no
sealer is required. Some checking is expected
which only adds to the rustic charm of this
centerpiece.
The underside of the roof structure
is smooth planed to give a clean, finished
look. The classic roof option offers a more
open feel allowing for more light.
